Cross CountryCross Country Hosts First Home Meet This Season September 13, 2007 WATERBURY, Conn.-The Post University men's and women's cross country teams open the 2007 home portion of its schedule this afternoon with a tri-meet against the University of Bridgeport and Caldwell College. The race will take place at Hop Brook Lake Park in Middlebury, Conn., and the gun for both races is slated to go off at 3:30 p.m. This will be the first race for the Post men's cross country team, as the women's team took part in a tri-meet with Caldwell and Dominican College last week at Dominican. Last week, the women's team was led by Quistara Letona who finished 10th overall with a time of 23:15 over the 5,000-meter course. Jamie Salvesen was second on the team and 12th overall, cross the finish line with a time of 23:54. Megan Oates rounded out the top three for the Eagles with a 24:15. Jenna Salvesen recorded a 26:19 and Amanda Prince posted a 34:11 for the Eagles in the race. The men's team returns Tim McCarthy who finished 21st overall at last season's CACC Championships. Matt Mehlhouse was second on the team, and Ryan Strauss cracked the top three for the Eagles in the race. As a team, Post finished ninth overall, moving up one spot from the previous season. Following this afternoon's race, the Eagles will travel to
Philadelphia, for the Philly Metro meet, on Saturday, September 22.
The race will be held at the Belmont Plateau, which will serve as
the site of the CACC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 20.
