MIDDLEBURY, Conn.-Sophomore Tim McCarthy won the men's race as the Post University men's cross country team defeated the University of Bridgeport, in the Eagles first home meet of the season, Thursday afternoon at Hop Brook Lake Park. The Eagles defeated the Purple Knights 27-28.

In addition, the Post women's team fell to Bridgeport and Caldwell in a tri-meet The Bridgeport women's team defeated the Eagles 20-35, and Caldwell won 25-30. Bridgeport defeated Caldwell 20-35.

McCarthy posted his second fastest time at Hop Brook with a 32:01 this afternoon. Last season, he had a 31:28 in a dual meet against Concordia College.

Senior Matt Mehlhouse finished second on the team and third overall with a 36:22, and sophomore Ryan Strauss rounded out the top three for the Eagles with a 41:27.

Running in his first collegiate race, freshman Nick Kinlock recorded a 44:43 and senior Claudel Jean-Louis finished with a 47:11.

On the women's side, senior Jamie Salvesen led the Eagles and finished seventh overall with a time of 25:36. Junior Megan Oates was second on the team and eighth overall with a time of 25:47, and sophomore Quistara Letona finished the pack for the Eagles, finishing ninth overall with a time of 26:36.

Sophomore Jenna Salvesen recorded a 29:37 and senior Vanessa Lagares finished with a 31:44.

The Post harriers will return to the course on Saturday, Sept. 22 for the 2007 Philly Metro, hosted by Cabrini College at the Belmont Plateau.
