Cross Country Teams Finish Ninth At CACC Championships

PHILADELPHIA-The Post University men's and women's cross country teams, each finished ninth, on Saturday, at the 2007 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships at the Belmont Plateau in Fairmont Park.

Sophomore Tim McCarthy finished 17th overall with a 28:52.75 over the 8,000-meter course. McCarthy lowered his time from last year, as he finished with 30:34.03 at last years championship.

Saturday's time, was the second-fastest for the sophomore at the Belmont Plateau this season, as he recorded a 28:49.26 at the Cabrini College Invitational on October 13, to finish 39th overall.

Junior Claudel Jean Louis was second on the men's team with a 39:21.21. Like McCarthy, it was the second-fastest time of the season at the Belmont Plateau for Jean Louis this season. He had a 36:48.76 on the same course last week.

Freshman Nicholas Kinlock was third on the team with a 41:31.16. He had a 40:30.71 at last week's Cabrini College Invite.

Freshman Garret Keenan followed with a 49:16.49, and sophomore Grant Mills, was right on his heels with a 49:16.98.

Junior Megan Oates led the Post women's team with a 23:16.56 over the 5,000-meter course. It was her best finish in the three races on the course for the Eagles this season. Last week, she led the women's team with a 23:25.71.

Sophomore Quistara Letona was second on the team with a 23:54.52, and senior Jamie Salvesen rounded out the top three for the Eagles with a 24:45.87.

Senior Vanessa Legares was fourth on the team with a 27:09.34, and sophomore Jenna Salvesen finished with a 29:33.85.

Both teams will finish the 2007 season at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championships on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Lock Haven University.
