Cross Country Travels To CACC Championships On Saturday

WATERBURY, Conn.-The Post University men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Wilmington, Del., for the 2006 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Cross Country Championships. The women's race is scheduled to go off at 10:30 a.m., and the men are slated to follow at 11:30 a.m.

At last year's CACC Championships, the men's team finished ninth overall.

This year both teams looked to be improved, and are coming off a solid performance in their last outing on Monday, in a dual meet against Concordia College at Hop Brook Lake Park.

Three women's team members took the top three spots, as Jamie Salvesen won the 3.1-mile race in a time of 25:26. Quistara Letona finished second on the team, and second overall with a 25:34. Vanessa Lagares was third with a time of 26:16.

Jenna Salvesen finished fourth on the team and fifth overall, crossing the line in 27:03, and Emma Everest was fifth on the team with a 27:58.

Tim McCarthy who finished the five-mile course in 31:28 led the Post men's team. Matt Milhouse was second on the team with a 36:05, and Claudel Jean-Louis was the third runner for the Eagles with a 40:58.

Under the direction of first-year Head Coach Joe Brady, both teams have improved their performance each time out.
