Women's Soccer Falls To Georgian Court, 3-0

WATERBURY, Conn.-Georgian Court scored three goals in the second half, to beat the Post University women's soccer team, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match at LaMoy Field.

The two teams played a scoreless first half, before Shannon Mastrogiovanni scored in the 49th minute of play to break the ice. That goal broke a 158:09 scoreless minute streak between the two schools. Post and Georgian Court played to a 0-0 tie in the consolation match of the ECAC Division II Championships, last November.

Allison Abbate gave GCU a 2-0 lead in the 55th minute, taking a pass from Nicole Mateyka. Mateyka would close out the scoring in the 66th minute, with an unassisted tally.

Post's Morgan Luschenat made four saves, while Stephanie Goss stopped three shot in relief. GCU's Lindsay Hammond made five saves on the afternoon

The Lions out shot the Eagles 18-7, and each team took three corner kicks apiece.

Post returns to action on Tuesday afternoon, as it welcomes Felician College to LaMoy Field for a CACC contest. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
