Women's SoccerWomen's Soccer Scores Four Times To Defeat Chestnut Hill September 22, 2007 WATERBURY, Conn.-Freshman Rachel Shivers had two goals and an assist, and junior Morgan Luschenat and junior Stephanie Goss combined for a shutout, as the Post University women's soccer team defeated Chestnut Hill, 5-0, on a cloudy Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field. With the win, the Eagles improve to 1-7 overall and 1-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play. Chestnut Hill falls to 0-8 overall and 1-1 in the CACC. Shivers scored her third goal of the season in the fifth minute of play, as senior Maria Krug fired on goal, but the ball deflected off the keeper, and Shivers was able to put it into the back of the net, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Post struck again in the 10th minute, as Krug fed senior Liz Graveline, for her first goal of the season. Junior Jackie Sutton put the Eagle up 3-0, in the 18th minute, with a shot from around the 18-yard line, after taking a pass from freshman Elizabeth Johnson. The score would remain that way until the 55th minute, when Shivers notched her second of the day, and fourth of the season. After the ball landed around midfield, on a goal kick, Shivers was able to gain control, and out ran the defense and went one-on-one with the goalie. Sophomore Tiffany Neuendorf closed the books on the scoring, firing a one-time pass from Shivers, from the top-right of the 18-yard box, giving the Eagles a 5-0 lead. The Eagles outshot the Griffins, 26-3, including a 16-0 edge in the first half. Post also had a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. Luschenat and Goss combined for the first shutout of the season for the Eagles, as Goss made one save in the second half. The match was also the first win for Head Coach John Benitez, who took over the reigns of the Post women's soccer program this season. Post hosts Dominican on Tuesday afternoon, continuing its
longest home stand of the season, at five matches. Kickoff is
slated for 4 p.m. at LaMoy Field.
