Women's SoccerAIC Scores Three Unanswered Goals To Defeat Women's Soccer, 3-1 October 10, 2007 SPRINGFIELD, Mass.-Senior Maria Krug scored the first goal of the match for the Post University women's soccer team, but American International scored three unanswered goals, to defeat the Eagles 3-1, on Wednesday afternoon at AIC Park. Krug notched her first goal of the season for the Eagles (2-10-1), in the fourth minute of play, as she took a redirected shot that was initially saved by the AIC (7-9) keeper, but caromed off her and into the back of the net for the first goal of the game. The senior tri-captain from Norwich, Conn. now has 15 career goals in her two-plus years as a member of the women's soccer team at Post University. For her collegiate career, she has scored 38 points on 15 goals and eight assists. As a freshman she played her freshman season, at Division I Binghamton University, where she had three assists. The Yellowjackets evened the match in the 16th minute when Tyler Rockefeller took a cross from Cassie Ashwell and put it past Post goalkeeper junior Stephanie Goss. Morgan Mastronardi, gave AIC the lead for good, with a goal in the 44th minute taking a pass from Joanne Germano and putting it into the net. AIC added an insurance goal in the 65th minute when Ashwell received a pass from Lindsay Wolfe and fired on net. Goss recorded a career high 12 saves, in her first career start for the Eagles. AIC's Danielle Hodecker made two saves for the Yellowjackets. AIC outshot the Eagles 27-7 and held a slight 5-3 edge in corner kicks. The Eagles will return to action on Saturday afternoon, with a
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at
Philadelphia University. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m.
