SCSU Defeats Women's Soccer, 3-0

WATERBURY, Conn.-Ashley Knight had a goal and an assist to lead Southern Connecticut State to a 3-0 win over the Post University women's soccer on Wednesday afternoon at LaMoy Field.

Southern improves to 2-1-1 on the season, while the Eagles fall to 0-5.

Virginia Hyman broke the ice in the 14th minute, taking a pass from Knight at the top of the 18-yard line, and putting it into the back of the net.

Knight scored her goal just before halftime in the 43rd minute of play on a shot from the bottom right corner of the penalty box.

SCSU capped the scoring in the 54th minute with an unassisted tally from Katrina Cook.

Post keeper junior Morgan Luschenat recorded six saves on the afternoon, while SCSU's Katie Didio and Alicia Purzycki combined for a shutout.

The Owls out shot the Eagles 17-7, but Post enjoyed a 4-0 edge in corner kicks.

Post begins Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on Saturday afternoon, as it travels to Holy Family University.
