Women's SoccerWomen's Soccer Announces 2007 Schedule December 21, 2006 WATERBURY, Conn.-Fresh off a record-setting 2006 campaign, the Post University women's soccer team announced the slate for the 2007 season on Thursday. For the second time in as many years, the Eagles will open the season at the Connecticut Cup, which features all four NCAA Division II institutions in the State of Connecticut, the University of Bridgeport, the University of New Haven, Post University, and Southern Connecticut State. The Eagles will open the 2007 campaign against Bridgeport on Friday, Aug. 24, at 2:30 p.m. at the University of New Haven. The Eagles will face New Haven on Sunday, Aug. 26 in second-round action in the Connecticut Cup. The Eagles will open the home portion of its schedule on Wednesday, Aug. 29, as Bentley College pays a visit to LaMoy Field, for a 4 p.m. start. Last season, the Eagles were 7-1-3 at home, and recorded nine shutouts at home. Following the meeting with Bentley College, the Eagles will hit the road for a non-conference match at St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 12 p.m., before welcoming Southern Connecticut State University to LaMoy Field on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 4 p.m. Then, the Eagles will hit the road for three matches, two of which are against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foes. Post will start the trip on Saturday, Sept. 8 at Holy Family University for a 12 p.m. kick. The Eagles will play their second CACC contest of the season at Caldwell College on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. The trip concludes on Thursday, Sept. 13, with a non-conference tilt at Pace University. The Eagles will then host Adelphi University on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m., to begin a six-match home stand. Dowling College comes to town on Monday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. Post will then welcome Chestnut Hill College to LaMoy Field on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. Dominican College is next on the docket on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m., Georgian Court University on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m., and Felician College closes out the home stand on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m. The Eagles will then head to Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m., American International on Tuesday, Oct. 9., and Philadelphia University on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. Post will return home for Nyack College on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m., and Wilmington College on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. The regular season concludes on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Bloomfield College at 12 p.m. Post was 11-8-4 overall last season, and recorded a 7-2-1 mark in the CACC, reaching the semifinals of the CACC Women's Soccer Championships. The Eagles also made their first-ever appearance in the ECAC Division II Women's Soccer Championships. The 11 wins by the Eagles ties the school-record for wins in a season, and the seven CACC victories is the new standard in school-history. In addition, the Eagles set the new school-record for points in a season with 37. Head Coach Matt Micros will enter his third
season at the helm of the Post University women's soccer program in
2007, and has all 19 players on the roster returning including
three rising senior tri-captains, Maria Krug, Shannon
Firetto, and Allison Williams.
