Women's SoccerWomen's Soccer Finishes Season In NCAA Statistical Rankings December 7, 2006 WATERBURY, Conn.-The accolades for the Post University women's soccer team, keeps pouring in, as the NCAA released the final 2006 statistical rankings in NCAA Division II women's soccer recently. The Eagles, who are coming off a very successful, 2006 campaign, under second-year Head Coach Matt Micros, were ranked in four individual and team, statistical categories. Freshman Kelli Veras, who was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Year, finished tied for 25th in the Nation in assists per game with a 0.50 rating. Veras led the team in scoring with seven goals, and 11 assists for 25 points, and at one time was as high as seventh in the Nation in assists per game. Another fellow freshman finished the season in the NCAA Division II rankings, as Karalee Desrosiers finished 24th in save percentage. Desrosiers finished her first season with the Eagles with a .849 percentage, stopping 79 shots, and recording a 1.04 goals against average. She was a second-team All-CACC selection. Desrosiers along with classmate Brittany Carroll combined to help the Eagles finish 37th out of the top-50 in save percentage with a .838 mark. Post allowed 25 goals and recorded 129 total saves this past season. Carroll finished the season with a 1.01 goals against average, stopping 50 shots, and a .820 save percentage. The Eagles also finished tied for 30th in shutout percentage. Post kept opponents off the board in 11 contests, including nine at LaMoy Field. Post averaged 0.48 shutouts per game, and finished tied with Armstrong Atlantic for 30th. Grand Valley State, led the Nation with a 0.73 shutout per game average, recording 16 in 22 games this season. Post finished the season with an 11-8-4 overall record and a 7-2-1 mark in the CACC. The Eagles also made their first-ever appearance in the ECAC Division II Women's Soccer Championships, reached the semifinals of the CACC Championships, tied the school-record for wins in a season with 11, broke the school-record for CACC wins in a season with seven, and recorded the most points in school-history with 37. Post looks to continue the success of this past season in 2007,
as all 19 players from this year's team are expected to return to
the fold.
