Bridgeport Wins ECAC Division II Women's Soccer Championships

WATERBURY, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport used a goal and an assist from Emma Woolley to defeat Molloy College to win the ECAC Division II Women's Soccer Championships on Sunday at LaMoy Field on the campus of Post University.

Bridgeport (17-6-1) scored the first goal of the game at the 28:12 mark, as Woolley took a free kick for the Purple Eagles roughly 30 yards out, and placed it into the top right corner of the goal.

Woolley set up Bridgeport's second goal of the contest, at the 52:52 point, as she took a corner kick that Sofia Hoflin headed into the back of the goal, giving Bridgeport a 2-0 lead.

Molloy (14-7) would cut the lead in half at the 75:48 mark, as Gillian Fortune fed Colleen Norcott, who put it past the Bridgeport keeper.

Amanda Roche made two saves in goal for Bridgeport to record the win, while Paula Sanelli stopped three shots, while going the distance for Molloy.

In the third-place match, the Post (11-8-4) who was hosting the tournament, while Bridgeport's filed is under construction, played Georgian Court (11-7-3) to a scoreless tie.

Post outshoot GCU 18-7, and held an 8-1 in corner kicks.

Freshman Brittany Carroll (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) made two saves in goal for the Eagles, as they record their 10th shutout of the season.

Melissa Rauth made eight saves for Georgian Court.
