Women's SoccerWomen's Soccer Plays Caldwell To Scoreless Tie October 18, 2006 WATERBURY, Conn.-Playing in its final regular season home game, the Post University women's soccer team played Caldwell College to a 0-0 tie on a mild Wednesday afternoon at LaMoy Field. With the tie the Eagles are 8-6-3 overall and 6-2-1 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). Caldwell is 7-10 overall and 4-5-1 in conference action. Post finishes the home portion of its schedule with a 5-1-3 record, and a 4-1-1 mark at home. Post had probably its best scoring opportunity in the second overtime, junior Maria Krug (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) took a cross and fired a left footed shot that just went wide to the left. Krug, who led the Eagles with 10 shots in the contest, had another apparent goal in the first half, as her shot hit the top of the cross bar and over the goal. Sophomore Jackie Sutton (Dryden, N.Y./Tompkins-Cortland C.C.) and freshman Kelli Veras (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) each took five shots for the Eagles. The Eagles peppered Caldwell with 34 total shots on the afternoon. Caldwell managed only seven shots in the match. Post held a 6-0 edge in corner kicks, and Caldwell was whistled for 17 fouls. Caldwell keeper, Richelle Morse, recorded 14 saves on the afternoon, including seven in the first 45 minutes of the contest. She made one in the extra session to keep the score knotted at 0-0. Freshmen Karalee Desrosiers (Granby, Mass./Granby) and Brittany Carroll (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) combined for the seventh shutout of the season for the Eagles. Desrosiers made two saves in the first 45 minutes, and Carroll made one stop the rest of the way. The Eagles will finish the regular season on the road with a
CACC match, at Wilmington College. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. in
New Castle, Del.
