Tracey Garofalo `02 begins her second season as head coach of both the women's basketball and softball programs at her alma mater.  Garofalo earned her bachelor's degree in English in 2002, and was a four-year member of both the Eagles' women's basketball and softball programs. 

In her inaugral season, her young women's basketball team finished in 5th place in the Northern Division of the CACC with a 5-20 record (4-13 CACC), but return the top two leading scorers from last season.

The softball program finished the spring with a 10-14 conference record (22-26 overall), narrowly missing a berth in the CACC Championships.  They also return two of their top hitters.

As an athlete, Garofalo set Post's career basketball scoring mark with 1,510 points, averaging 13.0 points per contest.  She converted 69.8 percent of her free throws and pulled down 596 rebounds. She also dished out 239 assists.

On the softball diamond, she had a career season in 2001, batting .386 with one homerun and 22 runs batted in.  She scored 29 runs and was a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts.  As a freshman, she batted .321 with one homerun and 18 runs batted in.

She earned second-team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) honors in 1998, and was named the Post Athlete of the Year in 2000.  She is the holder of 11 records in women's basketball at Post and was a two-time women's basketball most valuable player in 2001 and 2002.

Prior to returning to Post, Garofalo served as the assistant girl's basketball coach at Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury for five seasons.  During that span, she helped the team to four postseason appearances, including a spot in the Class S State Championship Game. Five of her former players garnered spots on the All-Conference team.

On the softball diamond, she coached at Sacred Heart for one season, and led it to the Class S State Semifinals with a 10-8 overall record.


Alan Stekloff
Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

Alan Stekloff joins the Post University Women's Basketball Staff this winter after serving as the Assistant Women's coach at UCONN-Avery Point, where he helped start a Junior College program in 2006, that finished the 2007-08 campaign ranked 10th in the country.

Prior to coaching at Avery Point, he was the Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Portland High School in Portland, Connecticut where he also serves as the district's Athletic Director for both the Middle and High Schools, overseeing 25 athletic programs, coaches and booster clubs.

At Post, Stekloff will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of practice and game planning, scouting, and recruiting.

He received his Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York at Brockport in 1998, and is currently working on his Master's degree at nearby Albertus Magnus.

Stekloff, in his not-so-free time also serves as a Martial Arts instructor in Cheshire and calls Wethersfield, Connecticut home.


David Huber

David Huber bringw extensive AAU Basketball coaching experience in Western Massachusetts with him to Tracey Garofalo's women's basketball program at Post University.

Huber was the Head Coach for the Western Mass Selects girls U14 team, and Assistant Coach for the New England Playaz U14 & U15 year old boys teams in 2005-2006.

He is a graduate of Providence College, where he served as the Graduate Assistant Coach for the Women's Basketball Program after graduating in 2002.  Huber is a certified Secondary School History teacher at The Sabis International Charter School in Springfield, Massachusetts, while he completes his Master's in Liberal Arts at Wesleyan University in Middletown.

At Post, he will be responsible for helping with the day-to-day operations of all aspects of the women's basketball program, from practice planning to recruiting.

A native of Salisbury, Connecticut, he currently lives in West Hartford.
