Women's BasketballWomen's Basketball Falls In Season Finale February 27, 2008 BLAUVELT, N.Y.-Freshman Mallorie Michalak (Meriden, Conn./Platt) recorded a team-high 16 points, for the Post University women's basketball team, in a 63-47, loss to Dominican College, Wednesday evening, at the Hennessy Center. Michalak connected on 5-of-12 shooting from the field, while knocking down three three-pointers. She also grabbed four rebounds. Junior Stephanie Goss (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) added 10 points and eight rebounds, for Post (5-20, 4-13 CACC). Goss also dished out three assists, recorded a block, and had two steals in 33 minutes. Dominican (20-7, 14-3 CACC) had three scorers in double figures, led by Althea Chambers who had 22 points and nine rebounds. She was 8-of-9 from the field, and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Dana Rotio had 11 points, and Adele Laskowski chipped in with 10. Despite shooting 52 percent, 13-of-25 from the field in the second half, the Eagles were unable to overcome a poor first half, in which they made only 4-of-25 attempts (16%), finishing the night shooting 34 percent, 17-of-50. From three-point range, the Eagles could not find their mark, connecting on only 5-of-18 (27.8%) attempts. At the charity stripe, Post converted 8-of-10 chances. Dominican made 41.1 percent, 23-of-56 of its field goal attempts, including 10-of-24 (41.7 percent) in the opening 20 minutes. However, the Eagles were able to hold the Chargers to 14.3 percent, 2-of-14 from three-point range, including 2-of-9 in the second half. Dominican connected 15-of-18 from the free throw line. The Chargers held a 37-32 edge on the glass, including a 13-9
margin on the offensive glass. Dominican also forced the Eagles
into 23 turnovers in the contest, with 12 steals.
