Women's Basketball Falls At Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I.-Senior LaToya Coley had nine points for the Post University women's basketball team, as the Eagles dropped a 72-44 decision to Bryant University Thursday evening at the Chace Athletic Center.

The Eagles fall to 0-7 on the season, while Bryant improves to 8-2, with its sixth straight win, and second in as many nights.

Freshman Mallorie Michalak added seven points, and senior Stephanie Goss added six.

Bryant had three scorers in double figures, led by Kelsey O'Keefe who had 16 points, while Kristin Mraz and Lynne-Ann Kokoski each added 10.

Post committed 21 turnovers which led to 18 points for the Bulldogs. Despite having shooting 29.2 percent (14-48) from the field, the Eagles connected on 43.8 percent from three-point range. Post drained seven treys, led by Coley who was a perfect 3-of-3 from downtown. Post connected on 9-of-15 (60%) from the free throw line.

Bryant shot 40.6 percent (26-64) from the field, and 33.3 percent (5-15) from three-point range. The Bulldogs sank 62.5 percent (15-24) from the stripe. Bryant controlled the boards, enjoying a 48-31 rebounding advantage, and grabbed 21 on the offensive glass, which led to 16 second chance points.

The Eagles return to the hardwood on Saturday, Dec. 29, as C.W. Post comes to the Drubner Center for a non-conference clash.
