Women's Basketball Travels To Nyack For First CACC Contest

WATERBURY, Conn.-The Post University women's basketball team heads to Nyack College on Saturday afternoon for its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North game of the season. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m. in the Bowman Gym, on the Nyack campus.

The Eagles enter the game looking for its first win of the season, while Nyack is 1-3 on the year.

Post has played three of the first four games of the season on the road, and following Saturday's contest with the Warriors, the Eagles will finish the first semester, playing three of four games at the Drubner Center.

Junior forward Stephanie Goss (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) has poured in double digits in each of the first three games this season for the Eagles. She leads the team in both scoring and rebounding with 13.7 ppg, and 7.3 rpg. The junior had 11 points, converting 6-of-10 from the charity stripe in a 73-58 loss on the road to St. Anselm Wednesday evening.

Senior guard LaToya Coley (Brooklyn, N.Y./Mohawk Valley C.C.) has come on strong as of late for the Eagles, recording double-digits in each of her last two games. She had 11 points against New York Tech, and 13 Wednesday evening against St. Anselm.

Freshman guard Mallorie Michalak (Meriden, Conn./Platt) also led the Eagles on Wednesday with 13 points. The freshman guard shot 5-of-10 from the field, knocking down two three-pointers, while grabbing six rebounds and dishing out two assists.

Senior guard Jackie Sutton (Dryden, N.Y./Tomkins-Cortland C.C.) was the fourth Eagle to record double digits, as she had 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting, eight of her points came in the first half, and she finished the evening with four rebounds and one assist.

Nyack has lost three of four games to start the season, and is coming off a 74-60 loss to University of D.C. on Monday evening. Tamyra Lathon had 21 points to lead the Warriors.

Nyack has two players averaging double digits, as Lathon leads the team with 14.5 ppg, and 15 assists, while Christy Porter is pouring in 13.0 ppg on the year. Kaarina Stearns is third on the team with 9.8 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per contest. Porter has seven three-point field goals on the year.

The teams split the season series last year, with each team winning on their home courts. Nyack won the first meeting 88-82 on November 28, despite a game-high 29 points from Coley. Post won the second meeting at the Drubner Center 53-45, behind 17 points from former player Tadj Williams.

The Eagles and the Warriors will meet again on January 31 at the Drubner Center.

Post returns home on Saturday, Dec. 8 with a CACC clash against USP, tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. The game will be webcast on http://www.posteagles.com/, with Joe Coss (play-by-play) calling the action, beginning with the Nike pre-game show at 12:35 p.m.
