Women's Basketball Travels To St. Anselm Wednesday Evening

WATERBURY, Conn.-The Post University women's basketball team will travel to Manchester, N.H. on Wednesday evening for a non-conference game with St. Anselm College. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. at Stoutenburgh Gym.

Post (0-2) will be heading to the "Granite State" looking for its first win of the season, after falling to Merrimack on opening night, and in the last outing against NYIT on November 20.

The Eagles are led by junior forward Stephanie Goss (Manchester, Conn./Manchester), who was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Honor Roll on Monday, after a 19-point, eight-rebound effort against NYIT. She also dished out three assists and had three steals.

Goss, leads the team, and is tied for 10th in the CACC in scoring with 15.0 points per game. She is also fourth in the CACC in field goal percentage, shooting 62.5 percent (10-16) from the field through two games this season.

Junior Cortensia "Coco" Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y./Kingsborough C.C.) and senior Natasha Box (Brooklyn, N.Y./Mohawk Valley C.C.) each had a double-double for the Eagles in their last outing. Davis recorded 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, with 10 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass. Box netted 11 points on 4-of-16 from the floor and grabbed 10 caroms.

Davis is tied for fifth in the conference in field goal percentage, with a .600 (9-15) mark. She is also seventh in the CACC in steals with 2.50 per game (5 total).

St. Anselm (0-3, 0-3 NE-10) has opened the season with three straight conference games, and the game with the Eagles will be the first non-conference contest of the season. In their last game, the Hawks dropped an 82-69 decision to Assumption College. The Hawks also dropped a 92-71 decision to the NCAA Division II National Champions Southern Connecticut, and a 79-70 overtime decision to Bryant.

Rachel Reilly led the Hawks with 16 points and five assists, while Erin Higgins chipped in with 12 points and seven rebounds against Assumption. Ten of Higgins' 12 points came in the second stanza.

Higgins and Reilly lead a trio of Hawks averaging double digits so far this season. Higgins is averaging a team-best 16.3 points per game, while Reilly is second on the team with 14.0 ppg. through three games. Cassaundra Thorpe rounds out the trio with 11.3 points per contest.

Following the non-conference clash with St. Anselm, the Eagles will open the CACC portion of their schedule on Saturday, Dec. 1 with Nyack on the road. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m. at Bowman Gymnasium.
