Women's BasketballWomen's Basketball Defeats Concordia, 75-70 On The Road February 18, 2008 BRONXVILLE, N.Y.-Freshman Mallorie Michalak (Meriden, Conn./Platt) recorded a game and career-high 24 points, as the Post University women's basketball team, defeated Concordia College, 75-70, Monday evening at the Meyer Athletic Center. Michalak, shot 8-of-13 from the field, and nailed four three-pointers, while grabbing six rebounds, dishing out four assists, and registering four steals, in 40 minutes for the Eagles. Post had four scorers in double figures. Junior Stephanie Goss (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) chipped in with 15 points on 4-of-11 shooting. She also grabbed 15 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season. Goss also had four steals. Freshman Jamie Martingano (North Windham, Conn./Windham) had 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting. She had a pair of three-pointers and grabbed three of her four rebounds on the offensive glass. Freshman Elizabeth Johnson (Manchester, Conn./N.F.A.) added 10 points for Post. Concordia was led by Dana Romel who had a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds. She was 9-of-15 from the field, and was able to control eight offensive caroms. Post shot 33.8 percent (24-71) from the field, and 38.7 percent (12-31) from three-point range. Concordia shot 41.3 percent (26-63) from the field, and the Eagles held the Clippers to 27.8 percent (5-18) from three-point range. Each team grabbed 41 rebounds, but Post held a 17-13 edge on the offensive glass. The Eagle defense also forced Concordia into 18 turnovers. Post returns to the hardwood on February 27, as they travel to
Dominican College for the final game of the regular season. Tip-off
is slated for 6 p.m.
