The Storyline: The Post University women's basketball team hosts Dominican College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game this afternoon in the Drubner Center ... This is the first meeting of the season between the two teams ... The Eagles are 4-16 overall and 4-8 in CACC play, while Dominican is 16-6 overall and lead the CACC with a 10-2 conference record. Last Time Out: Junior Stephanie Goss (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) recorded her fifth double-double of the season and third in as many games for the Post University women's basketball team, Tuesday evening, in an 89-72 loss to Caldwell College at the Drubner Center. Goss, who was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Honorable Mention, led three Eagles (4-16, 4-9 CACC) in double figures, as she connected 6-of-8 from the field, and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. Junior Kendra Pitts (Detroit, Mich./Indiana Tech) chipped in with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Freshman Mallorie Michalak (Meriden, Conn./Platt), who was named CACC Rookie of the Week, added 10 points and four assists. Post shot 45.9 percent from the field in the contest, knocking down 28-of-61 shot attempts. But, the Eagles struggled from three-point range connecting just 20 percent (3-15) from distance. At the charity stripe, the Eagles were 13-of-16 for the game, for an 81.3 percentage. Pair of Eagles Earn CACC Kudos: Freshman Mallorie Michalak was named CACC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, after helping lead the Post University women's basketball team in a pair of games last week. Michalak averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals for the Eagles. Michalak recorded a career-high 18 points in an 80-65 win at home against Nyack College on January 31. This is the first CACC honor for the freshman, who has recorded 10 double-digits point efforts this season. She is third on the team in scoring with 9.5 points per game, and leads the team with 2.9 assists a contest. Junior Stephanie Goss was named to the CACC Honorable Mention, after averaging 17.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in two games last week. In the win against Nyack, Goss had a season-high 25 points and 12 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season, and second in as many games. contest ... The 13th is also "Think Pink" Night, as both the men's
and women's basketball teams will help raise awareness for the
fight against Breast Cancer ... Fans wearing an article of pink
clothing with receive free admission ... S.A.A.C. will also be
collecting donations for the American Cancer Society.
