Women's BasketballChestnut Hill Spoils Women's Basketball's Winning Streak January 19, 2008 WATERBURY, Conn.-Chestnut Hill defeated the Post University women's basketball team, 75-63, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at the Drubner Center, Saturday afternoon. The loss snaps Post's three-game winning streak, as they fall to 3-12 overall and 3-5 in CACC play. Chestnut Hill improves to 3-12, and 1-6 in the CACC. Junior forward Stephanie Goss recorded her second consecutive double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. She had 22 points and 11 rebounds in a 77-63 win against Felician on Tuesday night. Senior LaToya Coley also notched 13 points, as the tandem led the Eagles on the afternoon. Coley had three three-pointers on the day. Freshman Elizabeth Johnson recorded a career-high 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting. Johnson also had a career-high eight rebounds, and had two assists, a block, and two steals. Post shot 39.4 percent from the field, connecting on 26-of-66. Post made 13-of-31 shots for a 41.9 percentage in the first half. Despite shooting 2-of-10 from behind the arch in the first half, the Eagles converted 5-of-12 for a 41.7 three-point percentage. The Eagles finished the game shooting 7-of-22. Chestnut Hill out rebounded the Eagles 42-37, but Post held a 13-11 edge on the offensive glass, scoring 11 second chance points. The Eagles also scored 15 points off 11 Chestnut Hill turnovers. Tara Walsh led four Griffins in double figures with 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting. She also grabbed 10 rebounds for the double-double. Jessica Pruiti chipped in with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while Maryanne Glass had 11, and Lindsay Formica rounded out with 10. The Griffins shot 50.9 percent from the field, converting 28-of-55 shots. Despite shooting 29.6 percent from the floor in the first half, they came out firing in the second half, connecting on a scorching 71.4 percent (20-28). They did however, struggle from three-point range connecting on 4-of-12 for 33.3 percent from downtown. Post will try to shake it off on Wednesday, Jan. 23, as they
return to the hardwood at Caldwell for a CACC contest. Tip-off is
slated for 6 p.m.
