Women's Basketball Wins Third Game In A Row

WATERBURY, Conn.-Junior Stephanie Goss (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) notched her first double-double of the season, with 22 points and 11 rebounds, to lead four Post University women's basketball players in double figures in a 77-63, win over Felicain College, Tuesday evening in the Drubner Center.

Goss recorded double figures for the seventh time this season, to lead the Eagles (3-11, 3-4 CACC) to their third win in as many days and second win over Felician in the past six days. She drained 8-of-12 from the floor, including 4-of-5 in the second half.

Freshman Mallorie Michalak (Meriden, Conn./Platt) tallied a career-high 15 points, shooting 4-of-8 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. She also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out three assists.

Senior LaToya Coley (Brooklyn, N.Y./Mohawk Valley C.C.) added 13 points, and senior Jennifer Rose (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown North) chipped in with 12. Rose was perfect from three-point range connecting on 4-of-4 from behind the arc.

The Eagles had their highest offensive output of the season, while also shooting a season-best 52 percent from the field, knocking down 26-of-50 attempts. Seventeen of the Eagles field goals were assisted baskets, which was the second-highest this season.

Post also sank 42.1 percent of its three-point attempts connecting on 8-of-19 from distance. At the free throw line, the Eagles were 17-of-23 (63 percent).

Felician (3-12, 1-6 CACC), who was led by Janelle Biamonte with 22 points on 6-of-17 shooting, connected on 38.2 percent (21-55) from the field. Dee Dee Smith was the other player to record double-digits, as she had 19 points and nine rebounds on the night.

From three-point range, Felician connected 30.8 percent, sinking 4-of-13 from distance. At the free throw line, it combined for 65.4 percent (17-26).

The Eagles out rebounded Felician 39-29, but Felician held a slight 11-10 edge on the offensive glass. Post scored 20 points off 16 Felician turnovers, and had an 11-9 edge in second chance points.

Post returns to the hardwood on Saturday afternoon, as it welcomes Chestnut Hill to the Drubner Center for the first-ever meeting between the two schools. Chestnut Hill begins its first season as members of the CACC. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
