Women's BasketballWomen's Basketball Team Falls To No. 10 Holy Family January 8, 2008 PHILADELPHIA-Freshman Mallorie Michalak (Meriden, Conn./Platt) netted a team-high 13 points, as the Post University women's basketball team fell to Holy Family University, 79-41, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game at the Campus Center at Holy Family. The Eagles faced the number-10 ranked team in NCAA Division II, according to the USA Today/ESPN Top-25 Coaches Poll, which was released earlier on Tuesday. The Tigers are 12-0 overall and 4-0 in the CACC. Post falls to 0-12 overall and 0-4 in CACC play. Michalak made 6-of-9 from the field, including a three-pointer. Freshman Jamie Martingano (North Windham, Conn./Windham) added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds, including four on the offensive glass, in 23 minutes of the bench. Senior LaToya Coley (Brooklyn, N.Y./Mohawk Valley C.C.) added seven points Catherine Carr led three Holy Family players in double-digits, with 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. Kelly Killon chipped in with 12 points, including three treys, and Lindsey Tennett added 11 points. Post struggled shooting the basketball connecting on only 27.1 percent (16-59) from the field, and 14.3 percent (3-21) from three-point range. Holy Family shot 40.3 percent (25-62) from the field and 42.9 percent (6-14) from behind the arch. Holy Family scored 17 points off 15 Post turnovers. The Tigers also proved to be too tough on the inside, holding a 54-33 rebounding advantage, including a 21-12 margin on the offensive glass. The Tigers scored 30 points in the paint, and 20 second chance points. The Eagles will have a quick turnaround, as they travel to
Felician College on Thursday evening. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
