"We are very excited to welcome Tracey back to Post University as head coach of our women's basketball and softball programs," Fallacaro said. "She was an outstanding player both on the hardwood and on the softball diamond, as a player at Post. We know she will bring those same qualities to this position." Garofalo earned her bachelor's degree in English in 2002, and was a four-year member of both the Eagles' women's basketball and softball programs. "Her knowledge of both the local women's basketball and softball landscapes, and her connection to Post University made her an easy choice for this position," Fallacaro added. "Her ability to recruit talented players and excellent student-athletes made this choice even easier. We feel she will elevate both programs and develop successful student-athletes that will represent Post University in a positive manner." Garofalo comes back to Post after serving as an assistant girl's basketball coach at Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury for the past five seasons. In that time, she helped the team to four postseason appearances, including a spot in the Class S Championship Game. Five of her former players garnered spots on the All-Conference team. She was also an assistant softball coach at Derby High School. Before entering the coaching ranks, Garofalo set Post's career scoring mark with 1,510 points, averaging 13.0 points per contest. She converted 69.8 percent of her free throws and pulled down 596 rebounds. She also dished out 239 assists. On the softball diamond, she had a career season in 2001, as she batted .386 with one homerun and 22 runs batted in. She scored 29 runs and was a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts. As a freshman, she batted .321 with one homerun and 18 runs batted in. She earned second-team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) honors in 1998, and was named the Post Athlete of the Year in 2000. She is the holder of 11 records in women's basketball at Post and was a two-time women's basketball most valuable player in 2001 and 2002. Last season, the women's basketball program finished the regular season, winning four of its last six games, and six of its last 10 to reach the CACC Championships for the second consecutive season.
