Women's BasketballWomen's Basketball Defeats Georgian Court, 71-66 February 24, 2007 LAKEWOOD, N.J.-Senior Tadj Williams had a game-high 21 points to lead the Post University women's basketball team to a 71-66 win on the road at Georgian Court University, Saturday afternoon in the final regular season game for the Eagles. With the win, the Eagles improve to 9-18 overall and 9-13 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), while Georgian Court falls to 5-22 overall and 3-20 in the CACC. The win also keeps the Eagles CACC Women's Basketball Championship hopes alive, as they need Caldwell College to lose its game with Goldey-Beacom College, on Saturday evening. Post made a run at the end of the regular season, winning four of its last six games, and six of its last 10 games of the regular season. Williams connected on 4-of-10 from the field, and 13-of-19 from the charity stripe, in addition to controlling eight rebounds, and dishing out five assists, to lead three Eagles in double figures. Senior Marjorie Prado had 12 points and five rebounds, while sophomore Jackie Sutton notched a season-high 11 points on 4-of-7 from the field. The Eagles shot 45.8 percent (22-48) from the field, including 52 percent (13-25) in the second half. Post also connected on 38.5 percent (5-13) from three-point range, including 4-of-7 from behind the arc in the second half. Post shot 64.7 percent (22-34) from the free throw line. Georgian Court was led by Kamilah Bergman who had 20 points, while Stephanie Longdo had 19 points, and Ashley Lobbato chipped in with 11. The Lions shot 35.3 percent (24-68) from the field, 31.3 percent (5-16) from three-point range, and 54.2 percent (13-24) from the free throw line on the afternoon. The Lions controlled the boards enjoying a 45-37 margin, and a 19-6 edge on the offensive glass. There was a combined 46 turnovers in the contest, and the Lions committed 24 personal fouls. If the Eagles qualify for the CACC Women's Basketball
Championships, they will face the number-one seed Holy Family
University on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa.
