Women's BasketballWomen's Basketball Wins Third Straight Over Wilmington February 17, 2007 WATERBURY, Conn.-Senior Marjorie Prado led four Post University women's basketball players in double digits, with 21 points, as the Eagles defeated Wilmington College, 64-58, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game at the Drubner Center, Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Eagles improve to 8-16 overall and 8-11 in the CACC, while Wilmington falls to 12-12 overall and 9-10 in the CACC. Post has won five of its last seven games, including three straight, to move into eighth place in the CACC standings. Prado connected on 9-of-18 shooting, while dishing out three assists and recording five steals. She had 15 points in the first half, shooting 6-of-12 from the floor. Senior Telisha Moultrie and senior Tadj Williams each recorded a double-double for the Eagles. Moultrie recorded her third of the season and second in a row, with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Williams notched her seventh double-double of the season and fourth in a row with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Junior LaToya Coley was the other Eagle in double figures with 10 points. Post went into the locker room at halftime leading 33-29, but in the second half, Wilmington took control early erasing the deficit and leading by as much as 45-37 with 14:36 left to play, after starting the second stanza with a 14-2 run. However, the Eagles would end the run with a 10-1 run of its own, to take a 47-46 lead, with 10:27 remaining. Moultrie and Williams each had four points in that stretch to help the Eagles gain the lead. Wilmington tied the game at 58-58, after Amelia Simmons knocked down a three-pointer, with 3:25 left. But, a Moultrie jumper put the Eagles ahead at 60-58 with 1:31 to go. Williams sealed it for the Eagles, sinking four charity stripe chances. Nordia Henry led Wilmington with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Simmons added 18 points. Post struggled from the field shooting 33.8 percent (23-68), and 22.7 percent (5-22) from three-point land. However, the Eagles made it count at the free throw line, connecting on 13-of-13. Wilmington shot 35 percent (21-60) from the field, 33.3 percent (7-21) from three-point range, and 75 percent (9-12) from the free throw line. The Eagles enjoyed a 45-41 margin on the glass, and an 18-15 edge on the offensive boards. Post forced Wilmington into 20 turnovers, while limiting its miscues to 15. Before the game the Eagles recognized the three graduating seniors who played in their final regular season game at the Drubner Center. Post returns to action on Tuesday evening as it travels to
Bloomfield College. The game is a make-up from last Tuesday's
postponement. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
