Women's Basketball Tripped Up By USP, 68-54

WATERBURY, Conn.-Senior Tadj Williams had 15 points and 12 rebounds, as the Post University women's basketball team fell to University of the Sciences on Saturday afternoon, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at the Drubner Center.

Post falls to 5-16 overall and 5-11 in CACC play, while USP improves to 14-7 overall and 11-5 in the CACC.

Senior Telisha Moultrie was the only other Eagle in double figures as she had 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting. Williams was 3-of-10 from the field, and 9-of-11 from the charity stripe. Five of her 12 boards were on the offensive glass.

USP scored the first eight points of the game, jumping out to a 36-18 lead at halftime. In the first half, it went on an 18-5 run over the final 6:52 of the first half. It opened the second half with an 11-2 run to take a 47-20 lead at the 15:06 mark of the second stanza.

However, the Eagles responded with a 15-2 run to cut the lead to 49-35 at the 9:37 mark. Williams had seven points in the span, before USP pulled away with an 8-0 run to go up 57-35 with 8:11 to go.

USP went up by 26 points at the 6:17 mark, before the Eagles finished the game with a 17-5 run, to make the final score 68-54.

Shelby Rance led three players in double digits for USP with 14 points. Autumn Tully had 11 points and Erin Chesnavich chipped in with 10.

Post shot 30.2 percent (16-53) from the field, and 21.4 percent (3-14) from three-point range. The Eagles converted 19-of-28 attempts from the charity stripe.

USP shot 40.4 percent (23-57) from the field, 50 percent (4-8) from three-point range, and 72 percent (18-25) from the free throw line.

USP out rebounded the Eagles 43-36, and both teams pulled down 14 offensive caroms. There were a total of 34 turnovers in the game (18 Post, 16 USP).

Post returns to action a week from today, with a CACC tilt at Goldey-Beacom, tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
