Women's BasketballWomen's Basketball Upended At Caldwell, 76-72 January 18, 2007 CALDWELL, N.J.-Senior Marjorie Prado tallied double figures for the 10th game in a row, as the Post University women's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to Caldwell College 76-72, Thursday evening at the George R. Newman Center, on the campus of Caldwell College. Prado poured in a team-high 20 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the field. Over the course of the streak, Prado is averaging 16.0 points per game, and now leads the team in scoring with 13.5 points per game. She connected on three treys, grabbed four rebounds, dished out three assists, and had three steals, playing the entire game for the Eagles (3-12, 3-7 CACC). Senior Telisha Moultrie bounced back, with a 17-point, 7-rebound performance. Moultrie connected on 7-of-12 shots from the field. In the first 20 minutes in was a close affair, until a pair of treys from Prado and junior LaToya Coley sparked a 12-2 run by Post, giving the Eagles a 26-19 lead with 8:50 left until halftime. An ole fashion three-point play and one from behind the arc by Khaliqa Davis ignited an 11-4 run by the Cougars to put them up 31-30. But Post, would regain the lead and go into the locker room at halftime with a 41-38 lead. But, the Eagles slipped in the second half, and the Cougars were able to take advantage, as they tied the game, and went on an 18-6 run to take a 64-52 lead with 11 minutes to go. Caldwell led by as much as 11 points, until the Eagles clawed their way back with a 12-2 run to cut the lead to 71-70 with just over a minute to play. Moultrie had six points in that stretch, while Prado had five. Each team came up empty in their next possessions, before Davis sank a pair of charity stripe tosses with 22 seconds left on the clock. Mackenzie Lynch went 1-of-2 from the line, before Prado connected on a pair of free throws to make it 74-72, Caldwell. Shannon Coyle put the game away with a pair of free throws with five seconds left, giving the Cougars a 76-72 win. Davis had a game-high 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting, as Caldwell (8-8, 6-5 CACC) had three scorers in double figures. Lynch added 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting, and Coyle rounded out the trio with 12 points. Post had a solid night shooting, connecting on 51.9 percent (27-52) from the field, including 64.3 percent (18-28) in the first half, and 41.7 percent (5-12) from three-point range. The Eagles struggled at the charity stripe connecting on 56.5 percent (13-23). Caldwell shot 43.1 percent (25-58) from the floor, 36.4 percent (4-11) from three-point land, and 68.8 percent (22-32) from the free throw line. Caldwell enjoyed a 38-33 rebounding edge, and a 12-6 margin on the offensive glass. There was a combined 52 turnovers (29 Post, 23 Caldwell) in the game.
