Women's BasketballBloomfield Halts Volleyball's Win Streak At Five November 1, 2006 BLOOMFIELD, N.J.-The Post University volleyball team dropped a tough 0-3 (24-30, 19-30, 29-31) in the quarterfinals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Championships at Bloomfield College Gym on Wednesday evening. The Eagles the number-six seed in the tournament, finish the season with a 12-17 overall record and an 8-8 mark in the CACC, while Bloomfield improves to 15-8 overall and 13-3 in the CACC. Bloomfield the number-three seed will advance to the semifinals on Friday at USP in Philadelphia. Senior Tadj Williams had a team-high 12 kills for the Eagles, while freshman Haleema Linares and sophomore Kerry Smith each added seven on the evening. Freshman Gabrielle Hopkins had 25 assists, and Smith led all players getting to 22 digs. Sophomore Michelle Stotz added 10 for Post. In the first game of the match, each team was able to take a lead, as the momentum swung back and forth. However, Bloomfield was able to pull away at the end to take the first game of the match 30-24. In the second game, Post took the early lead jumping out to a 5-0 lead. But, Bloomfield erased that deficit by scoring seven straight points to take a 7-5 lead. The Deacons then seized control en route to a 30-19 win in the second game. Post came out in the third game and built up to a 15-12 lead over the higher seed. The Eagles would eventfully extend the lead to 25-22, but Bloomfield chipped away at the Post lead, and tied the game at 25-25. It would go back and forth until it was tied 29-29. Bloomfield would then get two points to win the game and the match 31-29. Ursula Pereira had 17 kills to lead Bloomfield, while Sonia
Perez had 36 assists, and Nilmara Zanette had 18 digs.
