Volleyball Heads To CACC Championships With Five-Match Win Streak

WATERBURY, Conn.-The Post University volleyball team heads to Bloomfield College on Wednesday evening for the quarterfinals of the 2006 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball Championships.

The Eagles (12-16, 8-8 CACC), the number-six seed in the tournament, have won five in a row, and six of its last seven matches, before Wednesday's meeting with the number-three seed Bloomfield.

The number-four seed Goldey-Beacom hosts the number-five seed Wilmington College in Wednesday's other quarterfinal match up.

If the Eagles advance, they will face the number-two seed Georgian Court in the semifinals on Friday at 8 p.m. the winner of the Goldey-Beacom and Wilmington match will face the number-one seed Philadelphia University at 6 p.m. on Friday. Both matches will take place at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia; the championship match is slated for Saturday at 1 p.m.

In the regular season, the Eagles were tripped up twice against Bloomfield, falling 0-3 (19-30, 28-30, 15-30) on September 18 on the road, and 0-3 (21-30, 18-30, 17-30) at the Drubner Center on October 10.

In the first match of the season, senior Tadj Williams and freshman Haleema Linares each had 10 kills to lead the Post offense. Freshman Gabrielle Hopkins had 25 assists, and sophomore Michelle Stotz added 10 digs. In the match against Bloomfield at the Drubner Center, Williams had a team-high 11 kills, and Linares added seven.

Since the second meeting with Bloomfield, the Eagles have been on a tear, as they have won six of the last seven matches since then, and are currently riding a season-high five match win streak.
