Ducharme Notches 1,000th Dig

NYACK, N.Y.-Senior Vicky Ducharme recorded her 1,000^th collegiate dig, as the Post University volleyball team, had its three-match winning streak snapped in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match against Nyack College on Tuesday evening.

Post won the first two games, by identical scores of 30-27, but Nyack came back to win games three and four by 30-28 counts. The host Warriors prevailed in the decisive fifth and final game 15-12.

The loss drops the Eagles to 3-9 overall and 3-1 in CACC play.

Ducharme needed only nine digs entering the match, to surpass the milestone, but finished the evening with 17, as the Eagles recorded a season-high 101 in the five-game match. The Nashua, N.H. native also added nine kills and four service aces.

She joins junior Kerry Smith who recorded her 1,000^th dig against East Stroudsburg on September 13.

Smith led the Eagles with 18 kills and 18 digs for her third double-double of the season. Freshman Natasha Loving chipped in with 17 kills and 16 digs.

Senior Desere Obregon dished out 40 assists and 16 digs.

Senior Michelle Stotz led the way with 22 digs.

Nyack was led by Whitney Paige who had 13 kills, while Laurie Stuart added 10. Tara Leegwater had 40 assists, and Colleen Weidman had 26 digs for the Warriors.

Post finished the evening with 59 kills, 50 assists, 12 service aces, and 101 digs.

The two teams will meet again on Thursday, Oct. 11 at the Drubner Center.

Post returns to action on Thursday afternoon, as it travels to Felician College for a 7 p.m. match.
