Smith Notches 1,000th Dig Against East Stroudsburg

WATERBURY, Conn.-Junior Kerry Smith joined the 1,000-dig club at Post University, as the volleyball team fell to East Stroudsburg University, 3-0 (30-17, 30-28, 30-26) on Thursday evening at the Drubner Center.

Smith, who three days ago recorded her 700th career kill, registered her first double-double of the season with 16 kills and 18 digs to lead the Eagles on the evening. She entered the match, 11 digs, and reached that mark mid-way through the second game of the match.

Last season, Smith had 13 double-doubles as a sophomore for the Eagles.

Senior Vicky Ducharme chipped in with 11 kills and seven digs. She is ranked 35th in the NCAA Division II in service aces per game. Ducharme is also closing in on 1,000 digs, as after tonight's match she needs 36 to join Smith in the 1,000-dig club.

Senior Desere Obregon recorded a season-high 32 assists, and senior Michelle Stotz added a season-high 12 digs.

The Eagles who are ranked 38th in the latest NCAA Division II rankings for service aces, had 11 on the night as Stotz and freshman Natasha Loving each had three to lead the way.

Post returns to the court on Tuesday, Sept. 18, as it opens Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play with Dominican College. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m. in the Drubner Center.
