Smith Garners Spot On All-CACC Second-Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn.-Junior Kerry Smith was named to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Volleyball second-team, on Monday afternoon, as the conference announced its All-Conference Teams, voted on by the 13 head coaches.

It was the first post-season award for the junior outside hitter from Lynbrook, N.Y.

She had an exceptional junior season as she led the Eagles with 347 kills and 385 digs. The junior also had 10 double-doubles, 16 double-digit kill outing, and 15 double-digit dig contests. She also had two 20-kill outings and five matches with 20 or more digs, including a career-high 37 against Caldwell on October 25.

Smith is ranked fourth in the CACC with 3.37 kills per game, and needs only eight more kills to reach the 1,000-kill plateau. Earlier this season, she recorded her 1,000th dig against East Stroudsburg University.

Post will host Nyack College in the quarterfinals of the CACC Championships. The Eagles are the number-two seed in the CACC North while Nyack is the number-three seed. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m. in the Drubner Center.
