Volleyball Falls In Tri-Match To USP, Bryant

WATERBURY, Conn.-The Post University women's volleyball team fell to USP and Bryant in a tri-match at the Drubner Center on Saturday afternoon. However, the Eagles clinched the number-two seed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division, with a loss by Nyack College on Saturday.

Post finishes the regular season with an 8-23 overall record and an 8-9 mark in the CACC.

USP

University women's volleyball team, The Eagles dropped the first match of the afternoon to USP 0-3 (19-30, 24-30, 24-30).

Junior Kerry Smith let the Eagles with eight kills and freshman Natasha Loving had seven for Post.

Senior Desere Obregon had 23 assists for the Eagles, and senior Michelle Stotz had a team-high 11 digs

USP was led by Cady Rich who had 12 kills. Ladonna Lanmasser had 20 assists, and Olja Marjanovic had 15 assists. Lindsey Wendroth and Claire Tauschek each had 13 digs.

Post had 24 kills, 24 assists, eight service aces, 35 digs, and two total blocks. USP had 38 kills, 37 assists, eight service aces, 40 digs and six total blocks.

Bryant

Bryant defeated the Eagles 3-0 (31-29, 30-17, 30-17). Smith and Loving each had seven kills to lead the Post offense in the match.

Obregon had 22 assists, and Smith recorded a team-high eight digs.

Adrienne Boss and Grceva Likica each had 12 kills to lead Bryant in the match. Tiffany Garry had 25 assists, and Miranda Kolb had 10 assists for Bryant.

Maureen Atkins had 12 digs.

Bryant defeated USP 3-0 (30-23, 30-17, 30-20) in the other match of the afternoon.

Before the USP match, the Eagles recognized its five graduating seniors in "Senior Day" ceremonies. Tricia D'Angelo, Desere Obregon, Michelle Stotz, Vicky Ducharme, and Telisha Moultrie were recognized for their years of service in the Post volleyball program.

Post will host Nyack College at the Drubner Center on Tuesday evening in the first round of the CACC Volleyball Championships. The Eagles are the number-two seed in the North, while the Warriors are the number-three seed. Post earned the second-seed by virtue of a tie-breaker. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m., and the winner will advance to the semifinals on Friday at USP.
