Smith Registers 700th Kill, In Volleyball's 3-0 Loss To SCSU

WATERBURY, Conn.-Junior Kerri Smith notched her 701st career kill for the Post University women's volleyball team in a 0-3 (17-30, 20-30, 26-30) loss to Southern Connecticut State University, Monday evening, in a non-conference match at the Drubner Center.

Smith, who earlier in the day was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) honorable mention, entered the match needing 11 kills to reach the plateau, had a team-high 12 kills for the Eagles.

The Lynbrook, N.Y. native also had five digs in the match, and inches closer to the 1,000-dig mark for her career. Following this evening's action, Smith needs 11 digs to join the 1,000-dig club at Post.

Senior Vicky Ducharme chipped in with seven kills and five digs. Freshman Natasha Loving recorded six kills for Post, who had a season-high 31 kills. With her five digs on the evening, Ducharme also inches closer to 1,000 digs in a career, as she needs 45 more to reach the milestone.

Senior Desere Obregon had 23 assists for Post.

With the win, SCSU improves to 6-5 overall, while the Eagles fall to 0-7.

Post began a four-match home stand this evening with SCSU, and will welcome East Stroudsburg on Thursday evening for a 7 p.m. non-conference match. The home stand continues with a pair of CACC matches against Dominican (Sept. 18) and Caldwell (Sept. 20).
