Volleyball Falls On The Road To Wilmington, 3-2

NEW CASTLE, Del.-Sophomore Kerri Smith (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) recorded her fifth double-double in a row, and senior Tadj Williams (Albany, N.Y./Bishop Maginn) recorded 24 kills, as the Post University volleyball team dropped a tough 2-3 (20-30, 20-30, 30-28, 30-24, 12-15) decision to Wilmington on Saturday afternoon at the Pratt Center.

Smith had 10 kills and 13 digs on the day, and the Lynbrook, N.Y. native, has recorded 64 kills and 84 digs over the last five matches for the Eagles (2-7, 2-1 CACC).

Williams, posted a season-high for kills this afternoon, and has posted double-digit kills totals in each of her four matches since returning to the lineup. In that span, she has amassed 70 kills.

Freshman Gabrielle Hopkins (Yonkers, N.Y./Marble Hill) had a solid showing, as she dished out 35 assists, and 11 digs for first double-double of the season. She also had six service aces.

Sophomore Michelle Stotz (Naugatuck, Conn./Naugatuck) had 14 digs, as it was the fifth match in a row, that she has had 10 or more digs.

Post also received five block solos from freshman Haleema Linares (Miami, Fla./Braddock), and six kills and 10 digs from junior Vicky Ducharme (Nashua, N.H./Nashua).

Wilmington (2-13, 2-1 CACC) was led by, Katie Mason who had 14 kills, and Kristin Wiedeman who had 13. Brittani Leathern added 12. Cheyann Gilroy had 45 assists, and Jodie Fridinger had 21.

Post returns to action on Monday evening, with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match at Bloomfield College. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
