Volleyball Takes Second Match In As Many Nights

WATERBURY, Conn.-Playing in its second match in as many days, the Post University volleyball team defeated Stonehill College, 3-1 (30-27, 30-22, 25-30, 30-22) on Thursday evening at the Drubner Center. With the win, the Eagles improve to 9-16 overall, while the loss drops Stonehill to 4-18 overall.

Senior Tadj Williams led the Post offensive, by recording 16 kills and freshman Haleema Linares notched 13 kills in the match. 

Freshman Gabrielle Hopkins dished out 38 assists, and junior Vicky Ducharme and sophomore Michelle Stotz each recorded 15 digs, helping to lift the Eagle to the victory.

The Eagles also even the season series with Skyhawks, as Stonehill defeated Post in five games back on September 28.

Sophomore Kerri Smith also helped in the effort as she had nine kills and 11 digs; she also had five service aces.

Heidi Woerner led all players with 17 kills, for Stonehill, and Katherine Masson added 11. Andre Dupre dished out 30 assists, and Tara Munch registered 12 digs.

Post enjoyed a 51-42 advantage in kills, and a 55-49 edge in digs. The Eagles were out blocked 7.0 to 6.0.

Post returns home on Saturday afternoon, as it welcomes University of the Sciences to the Drubner Center for a critical Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match, at 1 p.m.
