Volleyball Falls To Stonehill In Five Games

EASTON, Mass.-Sophomore Kerry Smith (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) had a double-double as the Post University volleyball team dropped a close five-game match 2-3 (30-24, 25-30, 23-30, 30-27, 9-15) to Stonehill on the road Thursday evening at Merket Gymnasium.

Smith tallied 14 kills and 18 digs to lead the Eagles (4-11, 4-3 CACC) on the evening. Senior Tadj Williams (Albany, N.Y./Bishop Maginn) chipped in with 13 kills, and freshman Gabrielle Hopkins (Yonkers, N.Y./Marble Hill) dished out 44 assists, and had eight digs and six service aces.

Junior Vicky Ducharme (Nashua, N.H./Nashua) led the Eagles with 14 digs.

Stonehill (3-10) was led by Katherine Masson who had a match-high 21 kills, and also had 15 digs and five total blocks.

Rebekah Saunders added 13 kills and seven digs, for the Skyhawks. Stonehill took the third game of the match by scoring 13 of the last 17 points, before the Eagles rallied to take the fourth game of the match and send it into the deciding fifth game.

In the fifth game, with the score tied 6-6, Stonehill scored nine of the final 16 points to claim the match.

Post returns home for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match against Goldey-Beacom on Saturday afternoon at the Drubner Center.
