SoftballSoftball Splits Wild Twinbill At Felician April 8, 2008 LODI, N.J.-Senior Desere Obregon smacked her first homerun of the season, to help lead the Post University softball team to a 6-1 win over Felician College, in the second game of a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Kennedy Park. Felician won the first game, 4-3 in a wild 10-inning affair. In the first game, with the international tie-breaker in effect, Felician's Katie Spera reached on an error. Then after a sacrifice and a pop-up, Lauren DeGrushe looped a single to short left field, which scored the winning run. The Eagles forced extra innings with a run in the top of the seventh inning, as with the bases loaded, Caitlin McAveney singled, to knock in senior Allison Williams who started the rally with a single up the middle to lead off the seventh. McAveney went 3-for-5 with a run batted in, while Williams went 2-for-3 with two runs scored to lead the Eagles at the plate in the opener. Sophomore Stephanie Carrillo went 2-for-5 with a double. Obregon sparked the Eagles in the top of the fourth inning of the nightcap, with a three-run homerun. Also in the fourth, senior Michelle Stotz added an RBI-single, which gave the Eagles a 4-0 lead. After Felician scored in the bottom of the sixth, the Eagles added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning. McAveney stroked a ground-rule double, that plated Obregon, who singled. Then freshman Tierney Marceau singled through the left side of the Felician infield to bring home senior Vanessa Lagares, who reached on a fielder's choice. Obregon went 2-for-4 with the homerun, and three runs batted in. Sophomore Samantha Canning went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Carrillo picked up her sixth win of the season, as she gave up one run on six hits and two walks. Carrillo (6-8) struck out nine batters to pick up the win.
