SoftballSoftball Tripped Up At Holy Family April 6, 2008 PHILADELPHIA-The Post University softball team dropped a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) games to Holy Family University, Sunday afternoon at Tiger Field. Holy Family won the first game, 5-0, and came back to take the nightcap, 8-0 in five innings. Holy Family improves to 7-11 overall and 5-1 in the CACC, while the Eagles fall to 11-15 overall and 2-8 in CACC play. In the first game, Holy Family broke a scoreless tie, with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Victoria Grayson put the Tigers on the board, with a single, that drove in Nathalia Villalta. Two batters later, Sarah Marsteller ripped a two-run single, that gave HFU a 3-0 lead. The Tigers added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, Sophomore Stephanie Carrillo, senior Caitlin McAveney, freshman Tierney Marceau, sophomore Samantha Canning, and senior Allison Williams had base hits for the Eagles', in the opener. McAveney was touched for five runs on eight hits, while striking out four batters, while getting tagged with the loss. HFU's Jody Searfoss picked up the win, as she yielded five hits. In the nightcap, the Tigers scored one run in the first, five runs in the second, one run in the fourth, and one run in the fifth, to take the game 8-0, after five innings. With the Tigers leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Dolores Brown hit a solo, homerun, and Lauren Armstrong smacked a triple with the bases loaded, to break the game open. Marceau went 1-for-2 with a double to lead the Eagles at the plate. Senior Vanessa Lagares, and Canning also went 1-for-2 for Post in the backend of the twinbill. Post returns to conference play on Tuesday, April 8, as it
travels to Felician College, for a CACC doubleheader. First pitch
is slated for 3 p.m.
