SoftballSoftball Preps For Busy Week March 24, 2008 WATERBURY, Conn.-The Post University softball team opens what appears to be a very busy week on Tuesday afternoon, with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader at Bloomfield College. The second conference doubleheader of the season for the Eagles is slated to begin at 3 p.m. Following the conference twinbill, the Eagles will return to LaMoy Field on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader with American International, first pitch is slated for 3 p.m. Post will then travel to Mercy College on Friday, March 28 for another non-conference twinbill, before returning home to face CACC foe Georgian Court on Saturday, March 29, in a doubleheader, that begins at 1 p.m. The week will conclude for the Eagles on Sunday, March 30, with a pair of non-conference games against Assumption at 1 p.m. at LaMoy Field. The Eagles are 8-6 on the season, and 0-2 in CACC play after falling to University of the Sciences in the first CACC doubleheader of the season last Saturday afternoon. USP won the first game 4-0, and took the nightcap, 5-4. In the second game, sophomore Stephanie Carrillo went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and three runs batted in. Senior Desere Obregon went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Sophomore Samantha Canning leads the Eagles at the plate, batting .415 with one homerun, nine runs batted in and seven runs scored, in 41 at-bats this season. She also has five doubles and sports a gaudy .610 slugging percentage and a .478 on-base percentage. Freshman Tierney Marceau is second on the team with a .378 batting average, and leads the team with four homeruns and 11 runs batted in. Senior Michelle Stotz is hitting .342 on the season with a double, a triple and six runs batted in. Stotz leads the team with 10 runs scored, and has a .366 on-base percentage. Senior Caitlin McAveney has a 4-3 record with a
1.91 earned run average in 44 innings of work this season. She has
allowed only 11 walks, while registering 35 strikeouts, thus far.
Carrillo is also 4-3 this season and has a 3.13 ERA. Carrillo has
recorded 25 strikeouts in 47 innings.
