SoftballSoftball Wins Fourth In A Row With Sweep Of Concord March 12, 2008 FORT PIERCE, Fla.-The Post University softball team improved 5-3 on the season and its spring break trip to Florida with a pair of wins against Concord University (NC) on Wednesday afternoon. Post won the first game 3-2, and took the nightcap 5-0, for its fourth win in the last two days. In the first game, after Concord pushed a run across in the second, the Eagles scored three runs in the third inning, as sophomore Stephanie Carrillo roped a two-run single, that plated Vanessa Lagares and Michelle Stotz. Freshman Tierney Marceau smacked her second homerun of the trip with a solo shot to right centerfield, giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead. Concord added one more in the bottom of the third inning, cutting the lead to 3-2. But Carrillo kept them off the board the rest of the way as she retired 15 of the last 16 batters she faced to pick up her third win of the season. In the nightcap, the Eagles struck first with two runs off the bat of Lagares in the bottom of the second inning, as she stroked a single, knocking home Samantha Canning, and Stotz. Post added two more runs in the bottom of the third inning, as Canning reached on an error by the Concord third baseman, which allowed Marceau to score from third. Stotz then drove home Emily Archer with a single to make it 4-0 in favor of the Eagles. The Eagles would add one more run in the bottom of the fifth, when Caitlin McAveney helped her own cause with a single down the left field line to plate Allison Williams, who reached on a fielder's choice. Post will close out its trip to the "Sunshine State," on
Thursday evening with a non-conference doubleheader against Nyack
College. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
