SoftballCACC Release Softball Single-Season Record Book January 8, 2008 NEW HAVEN, Conn.-The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) released the single-season record book for softball on Tuesday afternoon. The book encompasses records from the NCAA Division II era, which began in 2003. Sophomore pitcher Stephanie Carrillo (Los Angeles, Calif./New Roads), senior infielder Vanessa Lagares (Meriden, Conn./Orville H. Platt), and senior outfielder Michelle Stotz (Naugatuck, Conn./Naugatuck) are current Eagles to be featured in the book. Carrillo is among 16 players that are tied for sixth in single-season saves with two as a rookie last season. She picked up her first career save on April 20 against Dominican, tossing three innings of relief in a 7-6 win over the Chargers. She recorded her second save in a 6-5 win over Goldey-Beacom the next day at LaMoy Field. Lagares recorded 14 steals in the 2006 season to finish tied for ninth on the single-season list in the conference. Stotz had 17 steals in 2007 to finish tied for fourth. Stotz had four multi-steal games for the Eagles last season. Crista Holtom finished tied for second in wins with 21 in the 2003 season, and appears on seven other pitching categories. She recorded 243 strikeouts in 2003 to finish second, and retired 174 in 2004 to finish ninth. Holtom was also third in innings pitched with 214.1, tied for third with 34 appearances, in addition to finishing third in appearances with 28, and second with 28 complete games in the 2003 season. In 2005 she finished tied for ninth with 24 games started. Recent graduate Megan Pappas appears four times in the record book in both hitting and pitching. She finished tied for sixth with nine homeruns during the 2005 campaign. She was also tied for seventh on the total-base list with 99, and sixth on the slugging percentage list with .717 in the same season. As a pitcher, she recorded two saves in 2005 finishing tied for sixth. Melissa Czeremcha and Krissy Tarallo each rapped out 15 doubles in 2004 to finish tied for eight on the list. As a team, the 2004 pitching staff recorded a team 1.18 earned run average, which was fourth on the list. The 2008 season is slated to begin on Tuesday, March 4 with a doubleheader at Southern Connecticut State University. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. To view the complete list, please click here.
