SoftballPappas Goes Deep, As Softball Falls To Molloy March 29, 2007 WATERBURY, Conn.-Sophomore Michelle Stotz and senior Priscilla Encarnacao each had a pair of hits in the first game, and junior Amanda Misa has a pair of hits in the nightcap, as the Post University softball team, fell in a doubleheader against Molloy College, Thursday afternoon at LaMoy Field. Molly (11-7) took the first game 7-3, and completed the sweep with a 6-4 win in the backend. After Molloy pushed a run across in the top of the first inning of the first game of the afternoon, the Eagles (3-11) responded with two of their own in the home half of the first inning. Junior Allison Williams reached on a fielding error by the Molloy shortstop, which allowed junior Michelle Stotz to score the first run of the game for Post. Senior Megan Pappas reached on a fielder's choice, and came home when senior Jackie Davis laced a triple to the wall in right field to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead. Molloy would tack on two runs in the top of the second inning, as Erin Rutt singled up the middle to plate two runners. The Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the third inning, as Pappas smacked her second homerun of the season to knot the game at 3-3. It was the 16th round-tripper of her career. Unfortunately for the Eagles in the top of the fourth inning, Molloy pushed across four runs on three hits and an error to take a 6-3 lead. Stotz finished the first game 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored. Encarnacao was 2-for-3 with her second double of the season. Freshman Stephanie Carrillo was tagged with the loss, as she gave up six runs, five earned on eight hits and five walks, while striking out seven. Molloy's Katie Scotko pitched a complete-game giving up three runs on six hits and a walk. In the nightcap, Molloy scored two runs in the top of the first, but the Eagles came soaring back, as they tallied four runs on three hits and two Molloy errors in the bottom of the second inning. The inning was highlighted by a two-run single from Misa. But in the top of the third inning, Molloy added four runs on five hits to take a 6-4 lead. Misa finished the game 2-for-3 with a run scored and two runs batted in. junior Desere Obregon was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Encarnacao was 2-for-3 with her third double of the season. Junior Caitlin McAveney struggled as she gave up six runs, four earned on seven hits in two and one-third innings. Pappas came on in relief and held Molloy to just two hits and two walks, in four and two-third innings. She struck out two batters. Amanda Havdoglous went the distance for Molloy, giving up four runs on nine hits and four walks. Post returns to action on Saturday afternoon, as they welcome
