SoftballSoftball Tabbed Eighth In CACC Preseason Coaches Poll February 21, 2007 NEW HAVEN, Conn.-The Post University softball team was selected to finish the 2007 season in eighth place, according to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Preseason Coaches Poll, which was announced on Wednesday by the conference. The Eagles finished last season with a 20-28 overall record and an 11-11 mark in the CACC a year ago. Head Coach Todd McEvoy will begin his first season at the helm of the softball program, after serving as an assistant coach the past four seasons. The Eagles return their leading hitter from a year ago, junior Allison Williams, who batted .271 with four homeruns and 19 runs batted in. Caldwell College was picked to win the CACC crown receiving 136 points and five first-place votes. Dominican was two points behind with 134 points, but garnered the remaining six first-place votes. Georgian Court rounded out the top three with 118 total points. Goldey-Beacom and Holy Family each picked up 93 points to finish in a tie for fourth place in the poll, while Felician was selected to finish sixth with 89 points, while receiving the lone remaining first-place vote. Bloomfield (72 points), the Eagles (61 points), Wilmington (57 points), Nyack (35 points), Philadelphia (30 points), and USP (18 points) rounded out the field in the poll. Post is slated to open the 2007 season on Wednesday, March 7 as Southern Connecticut State University comes to LaMoy Field for the season-opener for both teams.
