Men's Soccer Edged By Dominican, 2-1

WATERBURY, Conn. -Jhonny Arteaga scored twice, to lead visiting Dominican College to a 2-1 win over the Post University men's soccer team, on Saturday afternoon, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match at LaMoy Field.

Artega scored the first goal of the contest in the 33rd minute, one-timing a cross from Diego Barahona from 15-yards out.

However, the Eagles (2-9, 1-3 CACC) were able to knot the game in the 54th minute, when Dominican was called for a foul, and the Eagles were awarded a penalty kick. Senior Raleigh Woodburn took it and zipped it past the Dominican keeper, tying the game at 1-1.

But, Domincan (6-1-5, 4-0-1 CACC would score the go-ahead goal in the 58th minute of play, when Diego Miranda sent a pass in, and Artega put it into the net for his second goal of the afternoon.

Dominican held a slight 11-8 edge in shots, and the Eagles had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. There were a combined 32 fouls whistled in the match (17 Dominican, 15 Post).

Post returns to the pitch on Thursday afternoon, as it hosts Felician College in a CACC match at LaMoy Field. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
