Men's Soccer Drops Second Game Of SCSU Autumn Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn.-Henning Come and Marek Hawrylik each had two goals and an assists to lead the number-nine team in NCAA Division II Franklin Pierce University, to a 5-0 win over the Post University men's soccer team Sunday morning in the second-round of the SCSU Autumn Classic at Jess Dow Field on the Southern Connecticut State University campus.

Franklin Pierce (1-1) opened the scoring with a goal in the eighth minute by Hawrylik. Mike Lima fed the ball into the right side of the box and Hawrylik headed the ball into the back of the net, giving the Ravens a 1-0 lead.

FPU took a 2-0 lead in the 18th minute, with a goal by Come. Cole Larned took a free kick from the left side of the field and Come got a head on the kick and put it into the net for his first goal of the afternoon. Come added his second goal of the afternoon in the 33rd minute, and he took a cross by Connor O'Brien and put it in the back of the net, to give the Ravens a 3-0 lead.

Kensaku Tsuji put Franklin Pierce up 4-0 with time running out in the first hald. He was able to get free and fired a shot from the top of the box, which went past the Eagle (0-2) goalkeeper, junior Mike Aeschliman.

FPU added its fifth goal of the afternoon with Hawrylik's second goal of the afternoon in the 70th minute of play. Come assisted on the tally.

Junior Dan Nadel started for the Eagles in goal, and was relieved by Aeschliman, who made three saves in a little over 69 minuets of action. James Thorpe made one save in goal for the Ravens.

FPU held a 17-3 edge in shots, and a 6-2 margin in corner kicks. The Ravens also committed 12 fouls while the Eagles were whistled for only four. Franklin Pierce was called for five off-sides, while Post was off-sides four times.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday, Sept. 1, as they open up the home portion of their schedule with a non-conference match against Molloy College. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. on LaMoy Field.
