Men's Soccer To Open Preseason Camp On Sunday

WATERBURY, Conn.-After finishing last season ranked number-10 in the New England Region of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Regional Poll, the Post University men's soccer team, will look to return form from a year ago, as it begins preseason camp on Sunday.

The Eagles will begin preparations for the power-packed season-opening tournament at Southern Connecticut State University, August 24-26. Post will open the season squaring off with two of the top-10 teams in NCAA Division II from a year ago, in the number-six ranked host Owls, who finished last year with a 17-3-3 overall record. In the second match of the tournament, the Eagles will square off with the number-nine ranked Franklin Pierce, who finished last season with a 17-2-3 overall mark.

Post returns 16 player's from last year's team, which finished third in the conference, after being selected to finish fifth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Preseason Coaches Poll. The Eagles finished third in the conference in goals allowed with a 1.10 goals allowed average (23 total). Post goalkeepers finished third in the conference with a 1.03 goals against average.

Head Coach Ted Haley enters his third season at the helm of the Post men's soccer program, and guided the Eagles to a 9-7-5 overall record and a 4-1-3 mark in CACC play.

The Eagles finished the season strong, as they were unbeaten in 12 of their last 18 matches, and at one point in the season were unbeaten in 11 of 13 matches. Post won nine of its 11 matches at LaMoy Field, and led the program to its second CACC Championship appearance in as many years.

The Eagles will report for orientation meetings, medical tests, and team pictures, before departing for Trinity Pawling Prep School, for preseason camp. The team will return to campus on Wednesday, Aug. 15, to continue its preseason.

Following the season-opening tournament, the Eagles will open the home portion of its schedule on Saturday, Sept. 1 with a non-conference match against Molloy College. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. on LaMoy Field.

Post will begin its CACC schedule on the road at Holy Family University on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. The first conference match at home will take place against CACC newcomer Chestnut Hill on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 3 p.m.
