Men's SoccerBentley Defeats Men's Soccer, 5-2 October 8, 2007 WATERBURY, Conn.-Three goals in the first half by Bentley College broke open the match, as the Falcons defeated the Post University men's soccer team, 5-2, on a sweltering Columbus Day afternoon at LaMoy Field. Bentley scored in the seventh, 14th, and 28th minutes to take a 3-1 lead into the halftime break. With the win, Bentley improves to 4-9-1 overall, while the Eagles fall to 4-10 on the season. Michael Delaney scored three times in the opening 45 minutes to help the cause for the Falcons. The Eagles netted the first goal of the afternoon, when senior Raleigh Woodburn fed sophomore Eurica Trowers, who was in the box, and lofted a floater just below the crossbar dead center, and out of reach of the Bentley goalkeeper's hands. That put the Eagles back in the match, trailing, 2-1. However, Delaney would add his third goal of the afternoon in the 28th minute, with a shot from about 15 yards out. Trowers now has 11 goals for a team-high 22 points on the season. For his career, the sophomore from the Bronx has 13 tallies. Bentley added two more goals in the 73rd minute from Ryan Hatch, and at 86:09 from Mike Lipsett. Sophomore Andrew Nelson added the second goal of the match for the Eagles, just a few seconds later, as he took a pass from senior Alex Brito and put it into the back of the net. It was the second goal of the season and for his career for the sophomore from Windsor, Conn. Post will return to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
(CACC) play on Thursday afternoon, with a match at Bloomfield
College. Post is currently in fifth place in the CACC standings
with a 3-3 record, just a half game back of fourth place Holy
Family, who is 3-2 in five, matches through Sunday. Kickoff for the
Bloomfield match is 3:30 p.m.
