October 6, 2007

WILMINGTON, Del.-Sophomore Eurica Trowers' header in the 89th minute of play, lifted the Post University men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Goldey-Beacom College on the road Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 4-9 overall and 3-3 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). It was the first shutout of the season for the Eagles.

With overtime looming, senior Chris Ouellete's long throw in, went to the foot of sophomore Abby Walker, who flicked it into Trowers, who headed it into the back of the net, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead with just about two minutes left in the contest.

Senior Marco Gaspar picked up the win in goal for the Eagles, as he stopped four shots on the afternoon.

Post held a 16-9 advantage in shots, including an 8-5 edge in the first half, and an 8-4 margin in the second stanza. The Eagles also enjoyed a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.

It was the 10th goal of the season, and 12th of his career for the sophomore from the Bronx. In the match against Felician on Thursday, he recorded his second hat-trick of the season, in a 3-1 win. Trowers leads the Eagles with 20 points, after today's match.

The Eagles will return to the pitch on Monday afternoon, as they host Bentley College in a non-conference match on Columbus Day. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
