Trowers Records Hat Trick, Leading Men's Soccer Past Felician, 3-1

October 4, 2007

WATERBURY, Conn.-Sophomore Eurica Trowers recorded a hat trick for the second time this season, leading the Post University men's soccer team, past Felician College, 3-1 on Thursday afternoon at LaMoy Field.

Trowers, had three goals against Chestnut Hill on September 22, earning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week honors, raised his team-lead in goals scored to nine, and 11 in his career with the hat trick this afternoon.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 3-9 overall and 2-3 in the CACC. Felician falls to 0-11-2 overall and 0-5-1 in conference play.

Trowers now has nine goals for 18 points on season.

Post got on the board first, roughly five minutes into the contest, when senior Raleigh Woodburn, set up Trowers with a give and go play, allowing the sophomore forward to get free of the defense, and rip a shot past the Felician goalkeeper, at the 4:55 mark.

Trowers notched his second goal of the afternoon in the 37th minute, when Woodburn gained control of the ball on the left side of the field, and fed Trowers for a short breakaway goal, at the 36:59 mark.

In the second half, Felician came out spirited getting a few scoring chances early, but could not muster enough offense, until the 72nd minute, when Maciek Fraczek took a long free kick, and sent the ball to Greg Patulio, who riffled a shot past the Post goalkeeper, giving the Golden Falcons a little bit of life.

But it was short-lived as Trowers registered his third goal of the afternoon, this time taking a long pass from senior Alex Brito, and putting it into the bottom right corner of the goal, in the 88th minute.

Senior Marco Gaspar made two saves in goal, to record his first win of the season, for the Eagles. Paulo DosSantos made nine saves for Felician.

Post outshot Felician 18-9 in the contest, including a 13-5 edge in the first half. Post also enjoyed a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday, as they travel to Goldey-Beacom for a CACC match. Post returns to LaMoy Field on Monday afternoon, for a non-conference match against Bentley College, for a Columbus Day matinee. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
